October 14th, 2007
Results are in from the Ohio!!!

Josie finished Top Ten out of 19 Entries in the first annual Masters class.

October 20th 2007

Big news from the Congress. Josie gets top 4 out of 28 entries in the Limited Weanling Mares with 3 of the judges putting her 2nd, 3rd, and a 4th. And in the Open Weanling Mares.....6th place out of 37 Entries!!!

What a showing. This is absolutely exciting and I would like to send out my best wishes to Dana and Judy Norman who recognized Josie's incredible potential at just 3 days old! Special thanks to Randy Jacobs in prepping our girl for her debut and to Kathy Smallwood for catching and leading her inn. This team work certainly paid off!!!

Many thanks to Teresa Bagshaw for taking the time to snap these awesome shots for me. I'm just sorry that I wasn't able to be there with you guys.

Josie was bred born and raised until 4 months of age at FW Quarter Horses. Be sure to check back for her Congress photo.

ITS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT I ANNOUNCE THAT JOSE WAS FOUND LIFELESS IN HER STALL JANUARY 12TH 2009. APPARENTLY THERE WAS NO STRUGGLE SHE SIMPLY SLIPPED AWAY. THIS WAS AN EXTRODINARY MARE WHO WAS DESTINED FOR GREATNESS. SHE WILL CERTAINLY BE MISSED BY ALL. ~ ANDREA

SELECT WORLD SHOW AUGUST 26TH ~ AMARILLO TEXAS

What a trip down south. We get to Amarillo 5 days before the show to settle the colt and he gets an abscess! We all know how difficult an abscess can be so I would personally like to thank all those who worked diligently with me to get this colt sound for the class. Robert Conway of Lancaster Ca, 2 farriers Garry Smith and Eric (never did get your last name), DVM David McCarrol, Equine Sports Medicine, & Jarrel Jackson.

August 26th ~ Heartbreakin Kid showed phenomenally with Helmut at hand. Placing 5th overall in a class of 13 entries (4th, 4th, 9th (Nancy Swarm), 5th, 8th (Tom McBeath).

Coming out of the ring having Wayne Halverson greeting me and stating that the colt was fantastic and should have been placed a lot higher was so nice to hear. Then Dorn Parkinson, Cyril Desjarlia, other exhibitors and finally hearing that Ted Turner picked him to in the Top 2 was exhilarating.

I cannot say how much we enjoyed the Select Worlds. Everyone that was running the show, and fellow members, were all enthusiastic, kind, helpful, and having tons of fun. We look forward in returing to the Select Worlds in 2009.

This BIG boy sure turned alot of heads down there! This yearling is 15.2 hands at the wither and weighs 1200 pounds (at least)!! Many thanks to the Judges and spectators for all there enthusiasm on this dynomite colt.

A special thank you to Mr. Ted Turner for taking the time to give such a fabulous clinic at this Regional 2 Experience. Mr Turner viewed OZ and was in disbelief that he was only a yearling (OZ was born mid Feb/06). The feedback from Mr.Turner was of great enthusiasm and commented that its to bad that Lori didn't have him entered into the 2007 Worlds as he would have been very successful in the show.

As Lori missed out on entering OZ for the 2007 Worlds....do watch for this truly spectacular colt in 2008 campaining towards his Superior Title and for the 2008 World Show!

Congrats Lori to all of your success this year with OZ. I am very proud of you and you have certainly worked hard to achieve all of your accomplishments. ~ Andrea

2008 WORLD SHOW HEADLINE....

Well this has certainly been a year for Ima Provocative Kid (aka OZ), & the Knutson family. While they were attending business in Saskatoon, they received a call that there barn was on fire. There 14 year old son, Dallas, risked his life to save Oz, Cali, and Simon. Dallas managed to get the two weanlings out first, then ran back in. As soon as he and the neighbour pulled Oz out, the barn came down. I couldn't imagine running into a black smoked filled barn only making your way in by touching the stall walls to find the doors. What a courageous kid...but we all could have smacked him for even attempting this.
The weanlings weren't harmed, however the fire started right by Oz's stalls. Oz lost some sole on all fours, plus had some minor spot burns on his hip, & smoke inhalation. They lost everything! No blankets, sweats, halters, nothing. With all of this, there determination and help from fellow exhibitors & and horse enthusiasts, Lori made it to the Amateur Worlds.

I made the trip down and have to say that the Amateur 2 year old Stallion class was by far the toughest division (in the amateur halter divisions). Oz went over all 8th out of 11 entries, reaching Lori's goal of top ten. Huge congratulations to you Lori for your determination and presentation. Also many thanks to Bill Manness & Crystal Urlacher for taking Oz in and continuing his management during Lori's time of need.

Do watch for this outstanding Paint Mare. Great Plans are in motion for her and she will be campaigned to the fullest. Here is a quick email that was sent to me from the owner.

Our first futurity is Labor Day Weekend. The Trainer is very happy with her, and he says, try as he might, "he just cannot find anything wrong with her..." he thinks she is going to do very well! I will send show shots to you as soon as we can. ~ Andrea Carman

New England Paint Horse Club Futurity ~ Sept 1-3
This is the email that Andrea Carman has sent to me.....
"Andrea, We are thrilled to tell you that our filly won her first futurity....placing over a weanling filly that had been 7th open and 4th amatuer weanlings at the world show in July... shown by her owner himself in the open weanling fillies division at the APHA world show. Ron did a fabulous job with Marlo ( SHES OBVIOUSLY KIDDIN) and we are looking to bigger fields of competiton in the next weeks in NY,NJ, and Delmarva.
Marlo's neck was a "no sweat and to die for" neck....the way her head goes into her neck, her pretty head.....she just had expression, pop and flair and she won unanimously...we are thrilled! Now on to the next three....best wishes! Andrea Carman

September 16th 2006
Very excited to tell you Marlo won again, this time a class of eight tough halter fillies from PA, MD, Canada, NY. She got three firsts and one second. The other first was won by a filly owned and bred by Ray Mackie, a canadian trainer who has shown MANY APHA world champions! Our excitement knows no bounds! Now on to NJ, and Delaware! Many, many thanks to Andrea Fortkamp, owner of Obviously Im Kiddin, whose quality got us here, he IS consistently stamping them as himself, and Ron and Denise Orman for their fabulous job and expertise getting Marlo ready. Andrea Carman

Garden State Paint Horse Club Show
Another thrillling weekend! Marlo won the NJ open fillies futurity, first under all four judges, again beating the top five world show filly ( they tried to get around her by bringing out some "big gun" trainer but it just could not be done!) in a class of eight fillies. We'll have better photos in a few weeks, these are all from the digital camera!

What an exciting fall it has been! Three firsts, one second in our final futurity for 2006! We cannot wait for next year...... These photos are from a friend, taken at the first futurity in CT. Still not the professional championship shots though...those should arrive in October. We are so proud of Sequence, who gave us unforgettable wins in the ring, and who now has embarked in a new career as a broodmare, where she has outproduced her self and given us the ultimate gift in Marlo. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you (!!!!!) to Ron And Denise Orman, professionals extraordinaire and Andrea Fortkamp, owner of the great sire, a stallion we believe embodies perfection, Obviously Im Kiddin!

Ilderton Ontario
Circuit Champion Yearling Mares 2 First / 1 Second
I will have more information pertaining to this circuit shortly so look back.

Here is an email that i recieved from Teresa Bagshaw June 12th/07 :
Hello Andrea:
Shawna has Lucy with a trainer - RICK LEEK QUARTER HORSES from Michigan and he has done a nice job in getting her ready. She still has a little winter hair and they are working on it. Because we did not get her out last year, everything is a new experience and she is handling it like a trooper. Shawna had someone come to her on Saturday night and wanted to buy her. He said "he had not seen such a well balanced filly in a long time, plus he loved her head." This made her feel very good and that she has something special. She is taking her to another show this weekend and we will be letting you know how she made out. I will be sending you some more pictures of Rick showing and we hope you can put this on your web site. Teresa

Huge congratulations Shawna on your acheivements with Lucy. Rick is doing such a great job for you and of your you look stunning showing her in your Division. Andrea

Eastern Ontario Quarter Horse (EOQHA)Ontario Canada

A email letter from Proud Owner Shawna Crawford:

"We had an excellent weekend this past. We showed at the Eastern Ontario Quarter Horse (EOQHA) show and I must say we did very well.
For her 2nd time out, she handled it like a pro. She just loves all the attention and sure likes to show off and “look pretty”.
The judge on Friday really liked her. He put her grand in both Amateur and Open and commented to me that I had a very nice filly with a gorgeous head.
Saturday was a double judged show and she came out with 2 Reserves in Amateur and 2 Reserves in Open. So for the weekend, we ended up with 2 Grands and 4 Reserves. Not sure of the points yet, but will let you know when I find out.
She has been down at Rick Leek Quarter Horses in Michigan for 60 days fitting and training and they really did a nice job with her. We brought her home last weekend so we could do some shows up here. And I must say, I am very proud of how she is handling everything. Since she wasn’t shown as a weaning, this is all new to her, but she is handling it like a pro."
Talk to you soon,
Shawna

Quick email from Shawna :
"We came out with 4 Reserves so picked up a few points in both Amateur and Open. She is qualified in Amateur so working on Open. We showed 2 weeks ago at the Spring Fling and we came out with 2 Reserves. I talked to the ring steward afterwards and she said the one judge really liked her and said she is such a pretty and correct filly with a great topline, she couldn’t help but use her in Grand and Reserve, even with the bigger mares in the class, so I was happy with that comment. Shawna".
